Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Ajit Pawarpassed a resolution advocating for minority reservation in education and jobs following a caste census. This is notable as it's the first time a BJP ally has openly supported such reservation. Pawar assured implementation of the resolution and reaffirmed his commitment to secularism and minority rights. Additionally, he announced government funding for the college education of girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Despite his alliance with the BJP, Pawarreiterated his commitment to secularism and stated that the NCP remains a party that values inclusivity and represents the interests of the majority as well as minority communities. Additionally, Pawar announced a government initiative to fund college education for girl students from families with an annual income below Rs 8 lakh, aiming to address financial barriers to education for girls in the state.
