The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is considering reintroducing Open Book Examinations (OBE) for classes 9-12 in India. However, instead of immediately implementing OBE, the CBSE plans to conduct a comprehensive study within its affiliated schools to assess its feasibility. This study aligns with recommendations from the National Curriculum Framework for Secondary Education (NCF-SE) and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Initially, the CBSE intends to experiment with OBE in select schools to evaluate its effectiveness within the Indian educational context. The reconsideration of OBE reflects a broader initiative to explore innovative assessment methods to enhance students' learning experiences and align with contemporary educational goals.
