The Government of Odisha has announced a hike in the remuneration of temporary teachers and regularisation of the services of those who passed the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET). The state government took the decision on Friday. Temporary teachers, also known as 'Gana Sikshyaks' will now get a remuneration of Rs 10,000 per month. Earlier, they used to get Rs 7,000 per month. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that the services of Gana Sikshyaks, who have passed the Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET), will be regularised, and they will become assistant teachers, as reported by PTI. Also, the assistant teachers who have cleared the OTET and do not get annual increments now will receive yearly increments. This will benefit 9,520 such teachers. Further, the statement, issued by the Chief Minister's Office, added that the decision will benefit a total of 12,113 Gana Sikshyaks in the state.
