The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all medical colleges to constitute sexual harassment probe committees. The sexual harassment probe committees -- Internal Complaint Committees (lCCs), Local Committees (LCs) or lnternal Committees (lCs) -- should be set up at the appropriate levels in compliance with the provisions of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act (POSH) Act.  In a letter to the health institutions and medical colleges, the commission referred to the directions of the Supreme Court regarding the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013. Accordingly, all the medical colleges are requested to comply with the directions of the Supreme Court, the commission said adding that all health institutions and medical colleges have been directed to undertake a time-bound exercise to verify whether the medical colleges or the health institutions have constituted ICCS, LCS or ICs, as the case may be and that the composition of the said committees is strictly in terms of the provision of the POSH Act.
