The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today extended the deadline to conduct Class 10 and Class 12 practical exam dates. Additionally, schools have been given time till March 31 to upload the marks of practical exams, project works and internal assessment for the 2023-24 academic session. The decision to extend the timeline has been made after considering several requests from schools, the Board claimed. “It has come to notice that some of the schools have not yet completed the activities [practical exams/ projects/ internal assessment/ internal grade 2024] within the stipulated time frame despite repeated reminders for the same and are now requesting the Board to provide the facility for uploading of marks for practical exams/ projects/ internal assesment/ internal grade 2024,” CBSE notice dated March 7 said. It further added: “Keeping in view the requests received from the schools…it has been decided that these schools will be given one last opportunity for the conduct of practical exams/ project/ internal assessment/ internal grade 2024 and uploading of marks thereof on the portal latest by March 31, 2024.” The board this year also issued a list of subjects with marks distribution to help the schools conduct the Class 10 and Class 12 practical exams smoothly. CBSE had also announced that the maximum marks allotted to a subject will be 100 with marks distributed amongst theory, practical, project, and internal assessment components. This year, the theory board exams for classes 10 and 12 started on February 15, and are still underway. As a first, CBSE will not award any overall division, distinction or aggregate to the students appearing for the Class 10 and Class 12 exams in 2024. The board will neither calculate nor declare and inform the percentage of marks.
