Thiruvananthapuram: From next year onwards, college teachers will have the opportunity to evaluate exam papers in the comfort of their homes. The Kerala government is planning to launch a digital evaluation method known as 'On-screen Evaluation' for four-year degree courses. As per the recommendation of the higher education commission, open book exams are being conducted in the universities. Through the E-Evaluation process, the government is intending to cut down on the extra costs involved in conducting evaluation through special camps. The online process will help in solving other hassles as well. A special software and portal will be prepared for the purpose. On an experimental basis, the practice will be put in use during the re-evaluation of first semester papers in four-year degree courses. An amount of Rs 2 crore has been sanctioned for the first phase of initiation through the Kerala Resources for Educational Administration and Planning (K-REAP).
