The Union Health Ministry has requested the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi to restrict the duration of engagement for PhD scholars and scientists working on research projects to six years. Despite the directive issued on July 12, AIIMS administration has yet to implement the order. This decision has sparked protests from scholars and scientists, who fear potential job termination for approximately 1,400 employees. The ministry's directive also prohibits extending the tenure of project staff beyond the specified six-year limit.
