West Bengal has adopted only the 4-year honours courses at the undergraduate level as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The state has not accepted or implemented other recommendations from the NEP, including the 5+3+3+4 education policy and the centralized board system for schools. The decision to implement the 4-year honours course aims to prepare around 7 lakh students from West Bengal for competitive exams at the national level. However, the state has retained its own education policies for other aspects.
