In a revolutionary move towards modernising education, Kerala is set to launch a massive AI training program for around 80,000 secondary school teachers. Conducted by the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), this three-day training initiative aims to equip teachers from Classes 8 to 12 with essential AI expertise.  This ambitious endeavour not only marks a significant step towards integrating AI into the educational landscape but also sets a national precedent, as it is the first of its kind in the country. Scheduled to commence on May 2, the program targets to empower teachers with advanced AI skills by August 2024, promising a transformative impact on teaching methods and learning outcomes. The AI training focuses on summarisation techniques to simplify complex documents in PDFs, images, and videos and to generate concise summaries that retain crucial information and even create new content using AI tools. It is envisaged to provide them with the necessary AI expertise by August 2024, an official statement said.
