The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued an advisory cautioning prospective students and parents against enrolling in any programmes offered by Sangai International University, Churachandpur, Manipur. This follows the university's removal from the UGC's list of recognised universities. In an official notification, the UGC stated, "Sangai International University, Churachandpur, Manipur has been removed from the UGC list of universities under Section 2(f) of UGC Act, 1956. The university is now prohibited from offering any UGC-specified degrees at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD levels." The notification explained that Sangai International University was initially established by the Government of Manipur as a State Private University and was listed in the UGC's roster in June 2015. However, the university failed to provide the necessary information required for UGC inspections, despite multiple written requests.
