The Chinese consulate in Mumbai, in partnership with a Chinese firm, has upgraded a school in Solapur, Maharashtra, thehometown of Dr. Dwarakanath ShantaramKotnis, who served as a physician during the Sino-Japanese war. The Camp No.1 Camp High School of the Solapur Municipal Corporation was inaugurated on December 14. Dr. Kotnis, known for his medical contributions during the war, is honoredthrough this initiative. The project includes improvements like a new drinking water system, sports ground development, entrance gate renovation, security systems, CCTV installation, and wall painting, with an investment of Rs 50 lakh. The aim is to contribute to the education and well-being of children in Dr. Kotnis's hometown. Consul General Kong Xianhua emphasized the desire to repay Dr. Kotnis's sacrifice and foster China-India friendship through this initiative.
