Twenty-five schools in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts have lost their permission to be affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) due to a lack of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Manipur government. These certificates are required by CBSE rules for schools seeking affiliation. The exclusion of these schools from the CBSE's School Affiliation Re-Engineered Automation System (SARAS 4.0) 'affiliated' list indicates a significant administrative lapse. The Manipur government has vowed to take stern action against those responsible for violating state education and CBSE regulations, raising concerns about potential legal consequences or allegations of fraudulent activities in the affiliation process. All 25 affected schools, situated in the hill districts of Churachandpurand Kangpokpi, gained CBSE affiliation between May 2020 and May 2023, with tensions existing in these regions between the Meitei community and the Kuki tribes.
