The Uttarakhand government has decided to implement 10 "bag-free" days per academic session in all state schools, following the National Education Policy 2020. On the last Saturday of each month, students from class 6 to 12 will attend school without bags, participating in activities such as soil management, pottery, woodwork, and more. The initiative aims to reduce the burden of books and promote holistic development, allowing students to explore and enhance their diverse skills. State Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the decision is geared towards the overall development of students. The scheme is already operational in primary schools under the name "Pratibha Diwas."
